Hello from Rwanda! My team and I have safely made it to our eighth country, and we will be living here for TWO months! We are so excited to be able to make deeper connections and plug into the community of Kigali better, since we have double the time in this country than we have had in any other place. Rwanda is beautiful and it is so fun to live under banana, avocado, and mango trees in this tropical country. This month we are living with a sweet family in the capital city of Kigali. They have kindly welcomed us into their home and their community, and we have loved getting to live with the Pastor and his five kids so far. It has been really great to live in such a welcoming place that feels a little bit like home!

In Rwanda, my team and I have multiple opportunities to plug into the community of Kigali. Three days of the week my team and I work at an elementary school and help teach English to the little kids! I am working with kids aged 3-4, and it has been so fun teaching them their letters, numbers, and getting to know them! This school is a free education for all children aged 3-6 in the area before they head to primary school, and it is a great opportunity for the kids in the area. It has been so fun to work with the kids and teachers here.

Along with working in the elementary school, we are working in our host’s church. It is a small church with a view of the city and the community here has been so sweet to dive into for the small time that we have been here so far! We speak in the church, help with the kids’ lessons, and the church even has a radio station that we have the opportunity to speak at! There is going to be a lot of opportunities in this host placement for my team and I to practice our speaking skills and writing lessons!

Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and support! I would love prayers for the kids at the school that we are working for, and for my team to continue to press into each community that we arrive in for the month (and the two months in Rwanda!).

With love,

Claire
